ROLE SUMMARY We're at an inflection point. We started with core durable execution and are now evolving with the world as it transitions to AI. What it takes to get from where we are today to a world where Temporal underpins all software – including and especially agents – is going to be different. It will require unprecedented speed, iteration, market and customer focus, and invention. As an Agent Primitives PM, you’ll help the world makes its transition to AI on Temporal. Without any effort, the market has already identified Temporal as a good substrate for agent workloads. Now we need to make it great by going beyond workflow and activities, and building agent-specific primitives and patterns. You’ll identify the highest leverage areas for us to invest in new primitives, and work closely with the engineering team to get them to market. WHAT YOU’LL DO - Deeply understand problems faced by agent builders and identify opportunities where our products can make building agents faster, more intuitive, more reliable, and more powerful. - Define and build what’s next for Temporal. Own strategy and roadmap for agent primitives. Turn ambiguous signals into clear product theses. Do we need a higher-level abstraction for the agent loop? How do we evolve our durability primitives to fit a new range of agent use cases that have difference constraints on latency, cost, and durability? - Perform up-front discovery and translate customer, field, and open-source community signals into small tweaks, brand new abstractions, or platform bets. - Help engineers and designers deeply understand user needs, empowering them to make great product decisions. - Craft messaging around upcoming features that resonates with users. - Enable sales and marketing teams to effectively communicate with and win customers. You’ll build new things with a massive tailwind behind you: a proven technology, a large and growing customer base, and a market moving toward problems Temporal is uniquely equipped to solve. The opportunity is to turn that momentum into what comes next—not simply scale what already works. You’ll be expected to move fast, work across boundaries, and do what it takes to make it happen. WHO YOU ARE You're ambitious. You want to win big. You don’t need someone else to set the pace. You get impatient when good ideas stay in slide decks, Slack, or meetings. You're an owner. You are accountable to results over the process. You’re less focused on your swim lane and more focused on making the company successful. You have exceptional product and operational judgement. You're resilient. Building at a high-growth company in 2026 is not for the faint of heart. You see the challenges and change as not just normal, but actually desirable. You want to grow, and help others grow. You self-reflect often. You give feedback, and you seek it out. You have shameless curiosity and a propensity to question things deeply. You prioritize the customer above all else. You want to understand our users' world and prioritize solving their problems above everything else. WHAT YOU'LL BRING - You have 8+ years of product management experience - You have technical depth, with experience working on platform, infrastructure, developer tools, or other technical products - You have worked at a startup, high-growth company or in a similarly intense and ambiguous environment - Strong technical fluency in distributed systems, workflow or orchestration systems, event-driven architectures, APIs/SDKs, or comparable platform abstractions - Ability to reason about API semantics, failure modes, state management, reliability, scalability, and cost tradeoffs - High standards for developer experience across APIs, SDKs, documentation, examples, onboarding paths, and production workflows - Track record shipping technical products with engineering, then measuring adoption, learning from users, and iterating - Ability to translate emerging workload patterns, including AI agents and tool calling, into platform requirements for primitives, APIs, SDKs, and integrations - Ability to balance open-source developer experience, Cloud adoption, and enterprise production needs - Strong product storytelling for technical audiences, including strategy, launch narratives, tradeoffs, and developer-facing guidance NICE TO HAVE - Experience with workflow engines, durable execution, job queues, data pipelines, scheduling systems, or event-driven platforms - Experience building products across multiple programming languages, SDKs, or platform surfaces - Experience with AI agent platforms, tool calling, or durable execution for AI workloads - Hands-on engineering experience or meaningful experience building with infrastructure products Temporal Technologies is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
