Founding Growth Marketer

About the role

ABOUT PLOY Ploy is the marketing platform that turns a company’s website into its growth engine. We help everyone from early-stage founders to growth agencies (Tonik, TNT Growth) and growth-stage marketing teams (Clay, Hex) run their digital marketing channels, managing everything from SEO/AEO, paid acquisition, conversion rate optimization, and ABM, with the flexibility to build custom marketing workflows around their own data, tools, and goals. We’re building toward a future where Ploy can give marketing teams of any scale the leverage of a world-class marketer that’s proactive and always on. We’re backed by First Round Capital and Y Combinator, among other great investors and operators. We work in person, with teams in San Francisco and New York. Two principles guide how we work: build momentum and build trust. We keep things simple and ship quickly, while taking seriously the responsibility of running a customer’s website and marketing. ABOUT THE ROLE Our founding Growth Marketer will use Ploy to grow Ploy. You’ll become a true power user: building creative marketing workflows, connecting tools and data, and pushing the product to its limits. You’ll bring a practitioner’s perspective to our engineering, product, and design teams, helping shape new features and improve the workflows (Ploybooks) our customers rely on. You’ll own the digital marketing channels that build awareness and bring in new customers. You’ll work closely with our founder and go-to-market team to run campaigns, improve acquisition, and grow both self-serve signups and qualified sales pipeline. IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL - Own acquisition across paid search, paid social, and SEO/AEO. Set channel goals, manage budgets, and grow qualified traffic, signups, and demo requests. - Run conversion experiments across ad creative, audiences, offers, and landing pages. Drive your workflow in Ploy: develop a clear hypothesis, launch the test, and use the results to improve campaign performance. - Build targeted email campaigns that help new users get started, convert free users to paying customers, and re-engage users who have gone quiet. - Track channel performance through to activation, paid conversion, and sales pipeline. Use acquisition costs and customer quality to decide where to increase investment, make changes, or stop spending. - Partner with engineering, product, and design on new capabilities. Test them in live campaigns and share specific feedback on what works and what needs refinement. BACKGROUNDS WE’RE LOOKING FOR - 3+ years of relevant experience in growth marketing, performance marketing, or demand generation, ideally at a startup. - A track record of measurable growth: increasing qualified signups or marketing-sourced pipeline, improving conversion rates, or lowering customer acquisition costs. - Deep experience in at least one digital acquisition channel, with hands-on ownership of campaigns, budgets, targeting, and optimization. - Hands-on experience building marketing automations and AI workflows. You can connect tools and data, orchestrate agents, and evaluate and improve the results. - Strong analytical skills. You can set up tracking, analyze funnels, and design experiments that produce useful answers. - Sharp judgment on messaging and creative. You can write effective ads, emails, and landing pages, and give designers specific, useful feedback. LOCATION San Francisco, CA (our office is in the Financial District). We work in-office a minimum of three days a week.
