ABOUT HEAVISIDE INDUSTRIES Heaviside Industries builds multi-domain autonomous precision munitions for U.S. and allied special operations and conventional forces. While modern warfare has rapidly evolved with the proliferation of unmanned systems, hyper-precise munitions in contested environments are the future of the battlefield. Economical precision strike capabilities are critical to U.S. and allied war efforts, enabling successful defeat of enemy military assets and infrastructure. Heaviside builds precision munitions designed to operate in GPS-denied and spectrum-jammed battlefields—where traditional systems degrade or fail—without inflated prices or sacrifice to performance. All engineering and manufacturing is conducted in-house in Heaviside's Los Angeles, CA headquarters and Oslo, Norway office. Heaviside is backed by Felicis, Hedosophia, Interlagos, Friends & Family Capital, Menlo Ventures, Flume Ventures, Cantos, and others. WHAT WILL YOU DO • Develop robotics and embedded software using C++ and Python. • Build and integrate applications using ROS and PX4. • Integrate sensors, actuators, and communication interfaces. • Develop and improve control, navigation, and autonomous capabilities. • Troubleshoot issues across software and hardware. • Build and maintain simulation environments that model vehicle dynamics, sensors, and GPS-denied or jammed conditions, so autonomy software can be tested before it flies. • Participate in design discussions, code reviews, and technical documentation. • Work with the engineering team to take features from concept through deployment. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR • Strong programming skills in C++ and practical experience with Python. • Hands-on experience with ROS and PX4; ROS 2 experience is preferred. • Experience developing and debugging software on Linux. • Familiarity with robotics fundamentals, including control systems, coordinate frames, and sensor integration. • Experience working with embedded systems and physical hardware. • Familiarity with Git and collaborative software development. NICE TO HAVE • Experience with autonomous vehicles or mobile robots. • Knowledge of state estimation, sensor fusion, or motion planning. • Experience with simulation and automated testing. • Familiarity with MAVLink, DDS, or similar communication protocols. • Experience with computer vision or embedded computing platforms. Additional: Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity.
