ABOUT THE ROLE We’re looking for a Principal Brand Designer to define the brand design system that takes Ramp into new futures. You’ll turn our strategy into design, lead our most important brand projects, and help the team do its best work. This is a leadership individual contributor role. You can take any idea from zero to one. You understand the business fundamentals, the product value, the channels that perform best, and you know where brand design amplifies and improves the work. You understand each XFN’s accountability and outcomes, from product, marketing, GTM, growth and beyond. You can speak their language. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Set creative direction. Turn business goals and audience insights into clear ideas for the brand. - Lead company-defining projects. Take campaigns, launches, and other brand experiences from an open question to finished work. - Set the bar for quality and taste. You are the go-to expert for typography, imagery, layout, and brand design. You are the champion for this standard. - Build the brand system. Evolve our visual identity over time. We believe in coherency over consistency. We built our brand system to behave like jazz. - Connect brand and product. Work with product, marketing, and engineering so the company feels coherent wherever people experience it. - Raise the quality of the team’s work. You are a player-coach that can mentor others and develop a culture of collaboration, creativity, and trust. - Tell stories to drive alignment. Help partners understand the thinking, agree on a direction, and make practical choices about scope and timing. WHAT YOU’LL BRING - A deep portfolio of brand identities, marketing campaigns, bringing brand into product experiences, and digital applications, with a clear explanation of your contribution. - Excellent design fundamentals and the ability to carry an idea through to finished work. - Experience leading complex projects independently and making good decisions when the brief is still taking shape. - The ability to negotiate, compromise, or understand trade-offs with executives and XFN partners. - The ability to connect creative choices to the audience, the product, and the business. - A record of helping other designers improve and working well with people across disciplines.
