Business Development Representative

About the role

WHO WE ARE Sapien is the engine behind the world’s most important companies. We build agents that learn how a business works from its financial and operational data: its language, operations, and economics. That understanding helps people find opportunities, make better decisions, and act. We work with complex businesses, from manufacturers and restaurant groups to the Fortune 500. Teams at companies including Bayer, Cooper Standard, Blink Charging, Carlex, and Odeko use Sapien to understand their businesses and improve how they run. Our ambition is to build the self-optimizing company by making its people and systems dramatically more capable. We’re headquartered by Madison Square Park in NYC, with $15M+ raised and backing from General Catalyst, Neo, and operators from OpenAI, Google, Microsoft, Ramp, and Stripe. We’re bringing together AI researchers, engineers, and operators to build intelligence for the people who build everything else. THE ROLE We’re hiring a Business Development Representative to create qualified pipeline at Sapien. You’ll find the finance and operations leaders whose businesses can benefit most from Sapien, understand what matters to them, and turn that understanding into conversations that move forward. This is not a dial-the-phone-200-times BDR seat. You'll own the top of funnel end-to-end: who we target, what we say, which channels we use, and how we iterate. You'll work directly with the founders and sales team, sit close to the deals you source, and be first in line for what comes next, whether that's an AE seat or leading the BDR team as we scale.   WHAT YOU'LL DO Pipeline Generation - Build and run targeted outbound campaigns to finance and operations executives, from ICP definition to messaging to sequencing to iteration. - Source, qualify, and progress leads through the funnel. You own top-of-funnel and pipeline velocity. Your scoreboard: qualified meetings booked and pipeline created. - Experiment relentlessly across new channels, angles, and tactics. Measure what works, kill what doesn't. Sales Support - Support live deals through research, competitive intel, call prep, and follow-ups. - Partner with the founders and sales on positioning, messaging, and narrative. You'll help shape how the market sees Sapien. Market Signal - Develop a deep understanding of financial and operational workflows and the systems behind them to sharpen every touchpoint. - Feed structured signal back to product and leadership: what's resonating, what's not, and where the opportunity is. What we're looking for - Builder mentality. You'd rather design the system than run someone else's playbook. You see gaps and fill them without being asked. - 1–4+ years of experience in GTM, sales, growth, consulting, or finance. You've done some version of pipeline work and want to go deeper. - Exceptional communicator. You write outbound that gets replies. You speak with confidence to senior finance leaders. Your writing is crisp and persuasive. - Process-obsessed. You build clean systems — CRM hygiene, dashboards, documented workflows. You don't let things slip through cracks. - AI-native. You use AI tools daily and you're energized by what's possible. You'll be expected to leverage AI across your workflows. - High agency. You operate with speed and urgency in ambiguous environments. You don't wait for permission — you identify what's next and do it.   HOW YOU WORK (VALUES WE CARE ABOUT) - AI-native. You’re energized by applying AI to transform how businesses run. - Ambiguity-shaping. You turn nebulous problems into a first pass and drive to resolution. - Extreme ownership. You identify what’s next—and do it. If you say it, it gets done. - Speed & hustle. You bias to action and move with urgency without sacrificing quality.
