Why this role exists
Aurelius Systems raised $40M Series A on 5 Aug 2026. This role went up 1 day later.
Who We Are: Aurelius Systems is a VC backed defense tech startup building autonomous, edge deployed directed energy systems for counter-UAS. We build laser weapons to shoot down drones. We're a small team of engineers, former US military operators, and subject matter experts scaling America's directed energy dominance. The first cost effective, reliable and robust laser weapon system. Our namesake isn't an accident. Marcus Aurelius wrote about doing the work in front of you, every day, without excuses. Henry Ford didn't wait for permission to reinvent manufacturing. That's how we operate, small team, unreasonable output, no hiding behind the unachievable. In addition to our San Francisco lab, we've opened a Detroit manufacturing hub and we field test weekly on our own 400-acre private range. THE ROLE AND YOUR IMPACT: We’re looking for a creative, organized Content Creator & Digital Marketer to help tell our story across digital channels. This early-career role is for someone passionate about digital storytelling who enjoys creating attention-grabbing content, managing social media, supporting events, and keeping digital platforms up to date. You understand the basics of digital brand building and storytelling. You have a track record of working quickly while staying organized, and you can manage competing priorities with some guidance. You’ll work closely with the communications team to develop long- and short-form content that builds awareness, engages audiences, and supports business objectives. WHAT YOU'LL OWN: - Content creation and post-production, first priority: filming, editing, and publishing short-form and long-form video, plus graphics and photography across all channels - Multi-platform distribution and the publishing calendar: Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, and X with captions, scheduling, and community engagement - Analytics and trend tracking: platform algorithm awareness, performance reporting, and recommendations on formats and channels - Website content upkeep: news, careers, events, and SEO/GEO best practices - Event support for trade shows, conferences, and company events from swag, promo materials, to capturing content on the ground (supporting, not primary owner) - Brand consistency and digital asset organization across all channels WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR: - 3–5 years in content creation, digital marketing, or communications. Agency background preferred , or strong in-house experience at a demanding brand - Multi-platform fluency: you create natively for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and LinkedIn, not just one channel - Real editing chops: Adobe Premiere Pro, CapCut, or similar. Skilled in cutting, color correction, transitions, and export-ready delivery - Graphic design ability with Canva or Adobe Creative Suite - Strong writing, editing, and storytelling. You can make technical topics accessible without dumbing them down - Discretion and judgment: you know when to dial the energy up and when to keep it credible Where you probably come from: A marketing or advertising agency where you juggled multiple accounts and deadlines, or an in-house content team at a technical or highly visible brand where you owned video from shoot to publish. We want to talk if: You can take an idea from concept to published post in a day, your portfolio shows range across platforms and formats, and the idea of filming a laser test at a private range sounds like the best Tuesday of your career. NICE TO HAVES: - Experience in a regulated or technical industry: aerospace, defense, pharma, enterprise tech, or bioscience - Experience managing business social media accounts and executive social presence - Familiarity with website CMS platforms (WordPress or similar) and email marketing tools - Photography and photo editing experience - Experience supporting trade shows or live events Education: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Digital Marketing, Journalism, Graphic Design, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. HOW YOU OPERATE: - Extreme bias for action. You'd rather ship the post today than perfect it for a week - Comfortable behind a camera and editing independently, start to finish - Organized under pressure: multiple projects, one calendar, nothing dropped - Clear communicator who collaborates across engineering, leadership, and events - Self directed. You identify the content opportunity and capture it without being told WHY JOIN AURELIUS SYSTEMS? - Content most creators only dream of. Lasers, robotics, weekly field tests at a 400-acre private range. - Career velocity is real. You'll own the digital presence of a company at the ground floor, with direct access to the founders. - Work on a problem that actually matters. Small cheap drones are changing the world's security landscape. Our systems are the asymmetric answer, and the story is just starting to be told. - Join the densest defense startup ecosystem in the country. California is where the next generation of defense companies are being built. HOW WE WORK: We work Monday through Friday, 9 to 6, most Saturdays, and some evenings, although not constant, with travel for trade shows, events, and range days. We don't manufacture intensity for show, the pace is real because the work is real. BENEFITS: - Competitive salary + equity - United Health Care medical, dental, and vision coverage - Flexible 18 days PTO + 5 sick days - Travel to field test events and range days - Covered daily lunches and office snacks + drinks - E-bike / scooter stipend (Up to $500) - Direct access to leadership and real ownership over your work EXPORT CONTROL NOTICE: This role requires access to export-controlled information or items that require "U.S. Person" status. As defined by U.S. law, individuals who are any one of the following are considered to be a "U.S. Person": (1) U.S. citizens, (2) legal permanent residents (a.k.a. green card holders), and (3) certain protected classes of asylees and refugees, as defined in 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
