Why this role exists
Sarvam raised $74M Series B on 5 Aug 2026. This role went up 19 days later.
About team: Chanakya is Sarvam AI's specialised, self-contained vertical for national security and institutions of national importance. It carries its own pricing, business, product, engineering, custom-model and vendor functions under one roof — a complete unit built to solve the most complex problems in the strategic sector: the three armed forces, intelligence agencies, financial regulators, and institutions of national importance such as central ministries and national policy bodies. What we deploy here must be at strategic parity or higher — anything less is a national-security risk. That standard is the reason Chanakya is a small, exceptionally high-performing team inside Sarvam, and the reason we are deliberate about who joins it. Why this is one of the most consequential seats in Indian AI 01 — NATIONAL IMPACT You sit where it all gets decided. These systems are deployed inside the institutions that safeguard the country. The potential for national impact is not abstract — it is at the core of how the strategic sector reasons, decides, and acts. Few roles anywhere in Indian technology carry this weight. 02 — UNPARALLELED LEARNING Full-stack, end to end — nowhere else does this exist. Every deployment runs the entire stack: understanding a customer's real requirement, architecting and customising the stack for it, and where needed building and fine-tuning models, shaping training data, and inventing data representations for extraordinarily complex data, workflows and applications. You touch nearly the whole arc of the work. This experience sets you apart — whether you go on to found a company, or become a business or technology leader in the years ahead, at Sarvam or beyond. 03 — A PATH TO LEADERSHIP These are leadership seats in the making. Chanakya's functions are being built out now. We are looking for people who will grow into the leaders of these emerging functions — every one of these roles is a route to leading a part of the vertical, not just filling it. Where we are. This is not a leap into the unknown. Chanakya has already achieved product–market fit to a meaningful degree, has significant revenue booked, and has large strategic projects officially underway. Things are structured and going well. The opportunity. This is a genuine zero-to-one journey — but one taken within the reach, talent and standing of a company like Sarvam. You get the ambition and ownership of building something new, backed by the full weight of Sarvam's capability and presence. The golden opportunity: to help build out and lead the emerging functions of Chanakya, with a clear growth path ahead. Product Manager (4–8 years) Zero-to-one builders for a next-generation defence decision-support product. We are building a next-generation decision-support product for defence users and need product leaders who have genuinely taken something from zero to one — conceived, built, and shipped a product to real users, not managed a roadmap on an established one. • A hands-on, prototyping instinct — comfortable putting something rough in front of users quickly. •Stayed in the line of building tech products; strong AI-first instinct — reasoning about what models make newly possible. •Comfortable with ambiguity, senior institutional users, air-gapped deployments, and frequent travel to client sites. Much of the product definition will be theirs to make. The bar. Across every one of these roles, we are looking for people who want to change the world and build something of national consequence — and who will grow into the leaders of Chanakya's verticals. If that is you, the ceiling here is set only by your ambition. Base: Delhi NCR, with travel across India. All roles involve working inside restricted environments and travelling to client sites at short notice.
