Destro AI's $8M Seed Bets Warehouse Robots Need a Brain, Not Just Bodies
Base10 Partners and Bonfire Ventures co-led the $8M Seed, with CoFound Partners participating, to expand enterprise deployments and grow Destro's engineering and research teams.
Destro AI has raised an $8M Seed round to build what it describes as a shared intelligence layer for autonomous warehouse and factory operations. Base10 Partners and Bonfire Ventures co-led the financing, announced September 29, 2026, with CoFound Partners participating.
The Brooklyn company, founded in 2026, is organized around a robot-agnostic model: coordination logic that sits across hardware, people, workflows, and enterprise systems rather than belonging to a single machine. Its product has two complementary parts. MothershipOS operates above the robots, monitoring warehouse conditions and assigning work across robots and people. VisionOS provides on-robot perception and manipulation intelligence trained from human demonstrations. Together, the systems are meant to connect business priorities with physical execution across carts, pallets, cases, and totes.
Destro plans to use the capital to expand enterprise deployments, advance both operating systems, and grow its engineering and research teams. The company did not disclose a valuation, ownership terms, or a complete capital history. Unshackled Ventures had previously identified Destro AI as a portfolio company, though the amount of that earlier backing was not publicly disclosed. Founder and CEO Manthan Pawar and co-founder and CTO Soorya Narayanan lead the company.
The pitch targets a widening integration burden. Operators can already choose among autonomous mobile robots, forklifts, robotic arms, mobile manipulators, and human-directed equipment. The harder commercial question is whether those pieces can respond to the same live operating picture without trapping the customer inside one hardware vendor's stack.
Destro says it generated commercial revenue and entered production with large third-party logistics providers less than a year after founding. Those are company-reported claims, and the announcement provides no audited revenue, customer counts, or named contract values. It does name Yusen Logistics as an enterprise customer. In August 2026, the two announced a collaboration around transload operations, with initial work coordinating employees and autonomous mobile robots handling cart movements and later evaluation planned for pallet movement and workflow verification. Yusen director of automation Rick Brunelle said the platform gives the operation more intelligence and control while supporting service expectations.
Investors framed the bet around the distance between a demonstration and a working floor. Base10 co-founder and managing partner Adeyemi Ajao pointed to that production gap, while Bonfire principal Jennifer Richard made the same point from the buyer side: useful physical AI has to survive operational complexity rather than merely produce an impressive demo.
