Israel's Wonderful weighs $500M raise at a reported $5B valuation
The rumoured round, flagged in VC Cafe's weekly Firgun newsletter and attributed to Globes, has not been confirmed by the Israeli AI agents company.
Wonderful, an Israeli company working on AI agents, is looking to raise $500M at a $5 billion valuation, according to a rumour reported by Globes and surfaced this week in VC Cafe's weekly Firgun newsletter.
The newsletter, published on August 14, 2026, folded the Wonderful item into a broader roundup of unconfirmed deal chatter, placing it alongside reports that Anthropic is in advanced discussions to acquire Israeli startup Decart for $6 billion and that Google is developing a new AI chip in Israel with former Hailo employees. VC Cafe framed the collection bluntly: "Rumours are more than just gossip in tech. They can give a glimpse on where capital and strategic interest are heading next."
That framing matters here. Nothing in the report names a lead investor, a round structure, or a specific use of proceeds, and the company itself has not confirmed the raise. The $500M figure and the $5 billion valuation should be read as reported but unverified targets rather than closed terms.
What the source does establish is the category Wonderful sits in: AI agents, the layer of autonomous software that performs tasks on a user's behalf rather than simply answering prompts. It is one of the most crowded and most heavily funded pockets of the current cycle.
The context around the rumour explains why it is plausible. PitchBook data cited by Fortune found that 87.5% of U.S. venture dollars in the first half of 2026 went into AI megadeals, an extraordinary concentration of capital into a small number of large checks. AI-native companies, the same data set showed, commanded valuation step-ups nearly four times higher than everyone else. For a company with the right positioning, a $500M ask at a $5 billion mark is no longer an outlier — it is the shape of the market.
The week offered other illustrations of the same dynamic. Lovable raised $400 million at a $13.3 billion valuation, doubling its valuation since December. River AI, founded by former xAI co-founder Igor Babuschkin, raised $1.1 billion. Thrive Holdings, backed by OpenAI, raised $2 billion.
The Israeli ecosystem, meanwhile, is running hot on both ends. Corma came out of stealth with $60M for a defensive cybersecurity foundation model. Remepy secured a $36M series A for AI-driven therapeutics in Parkinson's. Attestable emerged with a $20M seed for zero-knowledge verification of AI calculations. Team8 closed a $265M fund III plus more than $100 million for follow-ons, bringing total AUM to roughly $2 billion across eight funds.
On the exit side, Israel continues to punch above its weight per capita, and the newsletter noted that Israeli exits are diversifying beyond cyber and AI into defence and deep tech. Anthropic's reported pursuit of Decart — which VC Cafe estimated could hand the company roughly 100 employees and its first major Israeli R&D operation — suggests the strategic buyers are paying attention to exactly the kind of talent Wonderful operates among.
