Aron exits stealth with $8M for an AI 'chief of staff' in procurement
Storm Ventures led a $6M seed round and Menlo Ventures led a $2M pre-seed round for the San Francisco company, which plans to expand engineering and speed product development.
Aron, a San Francisco-based AI software company, emerged from stealth with $8M in combined seed and pre-seed funding to put a digital employee inside procurement teams.
The company describes its platform as an AI Chief of Staff that cleans spend data, identifies savings and autonomously manages the source-to-contract process. Aron integrates with communication tools procurement staff already use — email, Slack and Microsoft Teams — and automates tactical procurement tasks and data analysis so human teams can concentrate on strategic, high-value initiatives.
The capital was split across two rounds with different leads. Storm Ventures led a $6M seed round, while Menlo Ventures led a $2M pre-seed round, according to the announcement. The funding was dated September 14, 2026.
Aron said it intends to use the money to expand its engineering team and accelerate product development.
The startup was founded in 2026 by Dominic Toselli, formerly the head of Worldwide Logistics Procurement at Apple. The announcement positions Aron as the first AI Chief of Staff for procurement teams, an agentic platform aimed at the gap between the negotiating work procurement organizations are hired to do and the data entry that consumes much of their time.
That pitch lands in a procurement software market already crowded with established source-to-pay suites, which is why Aron is emphasizing communication-tool integrations and autonomous task handling rather than a new system of record. By operating through email, Slack and Microsoft Teams, the company is betting that procurement teams will adopt an agent that meets them where work already arrives instead of requiring a platform migration.
The funding gives Aron runway to build out the engineering organization behind that agent while it courts procurement departments on the promise of automating the tactical layer of the function.
