FYDY In Advanced Talks To Land $12M Maiden Round Co-Led By Lightspeed, General Catalyst
The stealth-mode, San Francisco-based startup, incorporated in 2025 and run by five cofounders, would put its maiden cheque behind research into AI systems that learn continuously from experience.
Frontier AI research startup FYDY is in advanced talks to raise $12 Mn (about ₹115 Cr) in its maiden funding round, with Lightspeed Venture Partners and General Catalyst co-leading the proposed deal, sources told Inc42.
The San Francisco-headquartered company, which also goes by the name Fuzzy Dynamics, is currently operating in stealth mode. The proposed round would back FYDY's research into AI systems that learn continuously from experience — the only detail disclosed so far about the young startup's technical direction.
The company is run by five cofounders: Alapan Chaudhuri, Shivansh Subramanian, Anvay Karmore, Tanishq Chaudhary, and Zeeshan Ahmed. According to FYDY's LinkedIn page, the startup was incorporated in 2025, making this a first institutional cheque rather than a follow-on for an existing cap table.
Nothing about the deal is confirmed yet. Questions sent to FYDY did not elicit any response, and neither Lightspeed Venture Partners nor General Catalyst responded to queries, according to the report. The report did not disclose a valuation, the stage or structure of the round, or any other terms under discussion.
The talks place two of the most active global venture firms on either side of a stealth-mode research outfit that has yet to ship a product publicly — a pattern that has become familiar in the current AI cycle, where capital has increasingly chased research teams before commercialisation. Lightspeed Venture Partners and General Catalyst are both large multi-stage investors, and the pair co-leading a seed-scale round signals early conviction in the founding team.
For now, FYDY's public footprint is limited to its incorporation date, its cofounder roster, and the research agenda it intends to fund. Whether the round converts from advanced talks into a closed deal — and on what terms — remains to be seen.
