Wellhub Adds $19M to Credit Fund Backing Brazilian Gym Partners
Galapagos Capital manages the vehicle, with QI Tech as administrator and custodian, and the new allocation is expected to finance about 1,000 additional partners.
Wellhub has added $19M to its credit fund for partner gyms and studios, deepening a financing structure aimed at the fitness operators that supply its corporate wellness network.
Galapagos Capital manages the fund, while QI Tech serves as its administrator and custodian.
Wellhub connects employees with gyms, studios, wellness services, and fitness apps through corporate benefit plans — a model that depends on keeping its partner network broad and financially healthy. The company works with more than 45,000 partners in Brazil and 110,000 worldwide, making the Brazilian base the anchor of the credit program.
The fund does not hand out ordinary loans. It offers credit backed by receivables that partners generate through Wellhub, with repayments deducted from their payouts. That structure ties repayment directly to the revenue a gym or studio earns on the platform, rather than requiring collateral or a separate underwriting relationship with a bank.
Adoption inside the network is already substantial: one third of Wellhub's Brazilian partners have access to a preapproved credit line, according to the company.
The fresh allocation is expected to finance roughly 1,000 more partners, extending the program's reach to operators that have not yet tapped it.
Wellhub is also looking beyond Brazil. The company plans to expand the credit model to other countries, but intends to do so by working with financial institutions rather than becoming one itself — a partnership-led approach that keeps the balance sheet of a wellness benefits platform separate from the lending operation.
For gyms and studios, access to working capital can be the difference between joining a corporate benefits network and staying out of it. Wellhub's bet is that financing the receivables its own platform generates will pull more partners into the ecosystem, and keep the ones already there from stalling out.
The $19M addition lands as the corporate wellness and fitness benefits market continues to consolidate around platforms that bundle gym access, mindfulness, nutrition, and sleep tools into a single employer subscription — a segment where network size and partner retention are the main competitive levers.
