Forgepoint Secures $9.8M Seed Round to Enhance AI-Driven Factory Quoting
New York-based Forgepoint raises $9.8M from Primary and a16z to expand its AI sales assistant, Frank, which achieves quick quotes.
Forgepoint, a New York-based startup, has successfully raised $9.8 million in a seed round led by Primary and a16z speedrun. The funding will primarily be used to further develop Frank, an AI-driven inside sales representative designed to streamline the quoting process for manufacturers. Frank addresses a critical pain point in the industry, where manufacturers often produce parts faster than they can provide pricing to customers.
With the rise of AI in various sectors, Forgepoint aims to improve efficiency in factory sales desks by automating the collection of information for quotes. Frank analyzes incoming requests for quotations (RFQs), identifies missing specifications, adheres to pricing rules specific to the shop, and drafts quotes for approval. This automation is intended to free skilled workers from monotonous administrative tasks, allowing them to focus on more complex decisions.
The company has already demonstrated its potential, achieving seven-figure annual recurring revenue within just six months of its launch. This rapid growth illustrates the demand for such technology within the manufacturing sector.
In addition to the lead investors, angel investors from notable companies like OpenAI, Brex, Vercel, and SoFi participated in the round, underscoring the interest and belief in Forgepoint's vision.
The AI landscape in manufacturing is becoming increasingly competitive, with other startups like CloudNC and Isembard also raising significant funding to tackle related challenges. However, Forgepoint distinguishes itself by focusing specifically on the quoting process, a critical aspect of sales that can often delay production timelines.
As Forgepoint continues to refine Frank and deepen its integrations with existing manufacturing systems, the startup will need to monitor how effectively it can reduce the time estimators spend on routine tasks without compromising the approval process. The success of this approach will be crucial in determining whether Forgepoint can maintain its momentum and scalability in the evolving industrial AI market.
