Harmonic Security Secures $50M Series B to Enhance AI Security for Enterprises
Harmonic Security, co-founded by Digital Shadows' Alastair Paterson, raised $50M led by Crosspoint Capital to boost engineering and sales.
Harmonic Security, a cybersecurity firm focused on enabling secure employee use of artificial intelligence, has successfully raised $50 million in a Series B financing round. The round was led by Crosspoint Capital Partners and indicates a strong interest in innovative security solutions as companies increasingly adopt AI technologies. This funding brings Harmonic's total capital raised to $76 million, following its $17.5 million Series A round in October 2024, which was led by Next47, and a $7 million seed round in 2023.
Founded in October 2023, Harmonic Security is spearheaded by Alastair Paterson, who co-founded the threat-intelligence firm Digital Shadows, which sold for $160 million in 2022. Paterson’s track record and experience in the cybersecurity landscape position Harmonic as a formidable player amidst rising competition in AI security. Notably, the company has already secured millions of users across more than 100 businesses, including large enterprises.
The recent Series B round was oversubscribed and included participation from existing investors, although specific names of these investors were not disclosed. Harmonic's chief technology officer, Bryan Woolgar-O’Neil, is also a former executive at Digital Shadows, augmenting the company's strength through a seasoned team that includes many of the original data and machine learning experts from their prior venture.
The funding will be allocated to expanding Harmonic's engineering, sales, and marketing operations in both the United States and the United Kingdom, where its workforce has grown from 30 to over 90 employees in just two years. As organizations navigate the complexities of implementing AI while maintaining robust security measures, Harmonic aims to provide the necessary visibility and control, allowing businesses to leverage AI technologies without compromising safety.
Zach Sivertson, a managing director at Crosspoint Capital, expressed confidence in Harmonic’s mission, stating, “Security has too often slowed the adoption of new technology. As organizations embrace AI, they shouldn’t have to choose between moving quickly and maintaining control.” This sentiment underscores the increasing demand for security solutions that can keep pace with rapid technological advancement.
In a landscape where competitors such as Prompt Security and Aim Security have already been acquired by larger firms, Harmonic Security's ability to attract significant investment reflects its potential to become a leading provider in the AI security space. With a clear roadmap ahead and robust backing, Harmonic is poised to drive the future of secure AI use in enterprises.
