TriGemX Bio Secures $94M to Propel Phase 3 Migraine Treatment Development
TriGemX Bio has raised $94M in funding led by The Column Group, TCGX, and Viking Global Investors to advance elismetrep, a novel migraine treatment.
TriGemX Bio, a company focused on innovative migraine treatments, has successfully raised $94 million in financing, co-led by prominent investors The Column Group, TCGX, and Viking Global Investors. This significant funding marks a pivotal moment for the company, which is transitioning from its previous identity as Kallyope to sharpen its focus on developing elismetrep, an investigational treatment for acute migraine.
The financing is set to primarily support the Phase 3 development of elismetrep, a novel oral TRPM8 channel blocker that aims to provide a new therapeutic option for migraine sufferers. The company anticipates that the first results from the Phase 3 trials will be available by mid-2027. Currently, TriGemX is already conducting its first pivotal study along with a long-term safety study, with plans to initiate a second pivotal study in October 2026.
Elismetrep distinguishes itself from existing migraine treatments by targeting the TRPM8 channel in a unique way, which may enhance its effectiveness and tolerability based on encouraging Phase 2b data showing it reduced migraine pain and associated symptoms.
In conjunction with this funding announcement, TriGemX Bio is also unveiling a new leadership team to steer the company forward. Jeff Goater has been appointed as CEO, bringing experience from his previous roles at Surface Oncology and Voyager Therapeutics. Aninda Katragadda has been named CFO, having held significant finance positions at various biotech firms. These leadership changes are expected to bolster the company’s strategic direction as it embarks on this new chapter.
With the migraine treatment market being highly competitive, TriGemX Bio is positioned to carve out a niche for itself with elismetrep, which could potentially address unmet needs in migraine management. The ongoing support from investors reflects confidence in the company's innovative approach and the promising data from its clinical trials. As the company prepares for its Phase 3 studies, attention will be on how elismetrep performs in comparison to existing therapies and its ability to secure a foothold in the migraine treatment landscape.
