Ionage Secures $1.3M in Pre-Series A to Enhance EV Charging Infrastructure in India
Ionage has raised $1.3M in a pre-Series A round aimed at expanding its EV charging network across India.
Ionage, an AI-enabled energy management platform, has successfully raised $1.3 million in a pre-Series A funding round co-led by strategic investors and a consortium of CXOs from the energy and infrastructure sectors. Founded in 2021, Ionage is focused on developing an EV charging operating system that connects charge point operators, charger manufacturers, real estate owners, and electric vehicle (EV) users, facilitating efficient charging solutions across multiple networks.
With the fresh capital, Ionage plans to expand its coverage to include 100% of active EV charging networks in India. This initiative aims to improve charger discovery and payment processes for users while supporting small and mid-sized charge point operators (CPOs) in managing their station operations. Currently, Ionage has onboarded more than 25,000 four-wheeler charge points and caters to over 63 fleets nationwide, showcasing its growing presence in the EV charging landscape.
The startup operates across 33 states and Union Territories, covering nearly 3,000 cities in India. It has forged partnerships with over 75 charging partners and is on track to process more than 20 million units of energy monthly within the next year. The increasing demand for EV charging infrastructure is underscored by research from CII and ORF, which indicates that India’s charging network needs to grow over 40 times by 2030 to meet the anticipated demand for over 30 million electric vehicles.
Ionage's offerings include products like Nexus, Ionage App, Flo, and CASA, along with a Discovery API and business SDK currently in closed beta. The company is also leveraging AI and machine learning capabilities for load balancing and energy trading across its network, making its solutions even more robust. As the EV market continues to expand, Ionage's role in enhancing charging infrastructure will be crucial to facilitating the transition towards sustainable transportation in India.
