Prevision Medicine's $5.4M seed puts living tumor cells at the center of cancer care
Swiss biotech Prevision Medicine closed an oversubscribed $5.4M seed led by ACE Ventures to fund regulatory approvals and scale its PrevisionOne live-cell drug testing platform.
Prevision Medicine, a biotech startup based in Lausanne and Zurich, is betting that the fastest route to the right cancer therapy is to watch a patient's own living cells react to drugs in a dish. On Thursday, the company announced a $5.4 million seed round led by ACE Ventures of Switzerland, with participation from GoHub Ventures, SICTIC and angel syndicates. The round was oversubscribed.
Prevision's platform, PrevisionOne, is a single-cell assay that tests a patient's living cancer cells against hundreds of drugs and drug combinations and measures how they actually respond. The idea is to give clinicians functional evidence — not just genetic markers — to select the most effective approved drugs for each patient. Backers at ACE and GoHub describe the approach as clinically validated, noting that up to half of cancer patients do not respond to standard therapy.
The capital will fund regulatory approvals, specifically securing insurance reimbursement in Switzerland and the EU, and will help scale operations. The round was dedicated to advancing oncology and personalized care.
The raise comes during a quiet but concentrated funding window in Europe. Around the same time, Helsinki-based Kasvu Therapeutics announced a €30 million Series A for its depression drug program, and Italy's Clastix raised €2.9 million for Kubernetes management software with backing from CDP Venture Capital and Mistral AI. Taken together, the deals point to investor appetite for AI-adjacent infrastructure and health/biotech rather than a broad market rally. For Prevision, the $5.4 million seed is a hefty one by Swiss standards and lands in a country where biotech is considered a national strength.
Precision oncology is a booming field, and functional assays are an emerging frontier within it. Prevision brings strong scientific founders and early clinical evidence to that race, and the oversubscribed round suggests VCs are still willing to back personalized medicine plays with hard-to-replicate capabilities. The immediate task now is securing reimbursement and scaling operations.
