Allswell Secures $7M Seed Funding to Expand LGBTQ+ Behavioral Health Services
Allswell has raised $7M in seed funding led by Rethink Impact to enhance its behavioral health platform for the LGBTQ+ community.
Allswell, a company focused on providing insurance-covered behavioral health services for the LGBTQ+ community, has successfully raised $7 million in seed funding. The financing round was led by Rethink Impact, with additional participation from Magnify Ventures, Ulu Ventures, Hopelab Ventures, and existing investors Techstars and Amboy Street Ventures. This new funding follows a $1.3 million pre-seed round led by Amboy Street Ventures, bringing Allswell’s total funding to $8.3 million.
Allswell offers a variety of services including one-on-one virtual therapy, group programs, and trauma-informed behavioral healthcare, all covered through commercial insurance and Medicaid. The company currently operates in Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia, and plans to utilize the new funds to expand its geographic reach, grow its clinical training programs, and broaden its service offerings.
In addition to enhancing its existing services, Allswell is set to introduce psychiatric medication management next year, further aiming to establish itself as a comprehensive medical home for LGBTQ+ patients. The company's clinical approach is tailored to address mental health conditions such as depression and anxiety, as well as identity-specific trauma and social transition issues. Allswell's therapists are either members of the LGBTQ+ community or have been screened for relevant experience, ensuring a supportive environment for patients.
Since launching in spring 2025, Allswell has been rapidly scaling its operations, currently serving hundreds of active patients and conducting up to 1,500 billable sessions monthly. Many patients remain in treatment for over a year, which is significantly longer than the industry's average of six to eight sessions, leading to a revenue per patient that can be three to nine times higher than the industry norm. Notably, Allswell has reported improved clinical outcomes, with 77% of patients showing improvements in anxiety and 71% in depression after just 60 days of treatment.
Founded by CEO Dawn Androphy and CTO Connor Gordon after their participation in Stanford Graduate School of Business’ Startup Garage program, Allswell is well-positioned to address the growing need for specialized mental health care for the LGBTQ+ community. The rising percentage of Gen Z identifying as LGBTQ+ highlights the urgency and potential for Allswell's mission, as noted by Rethink Impact's Managing Partner Heidi Patel, who emphasized the significant generational and cultural shift occurring in this demographic.
With this funding, Allswell is not only preparing to expand its reach but also to pioneer new, thoughtful clinical programs tailored specifically for the unique challenges faced by LGBTQ+ individuals, ensuring that this underserved population receives the care they deserve.
