SignSplit Exits Stealth With $400M Strategic Seed and a $1B Valuation
The Wilmington, Del.-based company, which lets people and institutions protect, license and contribute their data, work and likeness, took the commitment from W Group, a fintech and technology ecosystem serving more than 40 million users.
SignSplit PBC has emerged from stealth with a $400M strategic seed round, secured with W Group, the global fintech and technology ecosystem that says it serves more than 40 million users.
The Wilmington, Del.-based company enables people and institutions to protect, license and contribute their data, work and likeness, according to the announcement dated Oct. 14. The financing commitment values SignSplit at $1 billion.
The round is not capital alone. SignSplit said the deal combines the financing with a multi-year package of strategic resources intended to support its global rollout. That structure pairs the startup's expansion with a backer that already operates at significant scale, rather than with a standalone cash injection.
W Group's position as a fintech and technology ecosystem with tens of millions of users gives the round a strategic character alongside its financial one. The announcement frames the resources as arriving with the capital over a period of multiple years, though it does not break out how the capital and the strategic package divide, nor does it set a timeline for the rollout.
SignSplit's stated purpose sits at the meeting point of data, work and likeness rights, with the company describing itself as enabling both individuals and institutions to protect, license and contribute those assets. The company's emergence from stealth was announced alongside the round and the valuation.
Both the size of the seed round and the $1 billion valuation were disclosed in the same announcement, making SignSplit's coming-out one of the larger seed-stage commitments to surface this week. No other investors were named.
