Singularity AMC backs MakeO's dental tech push with $9.5M
The round, which also drew DSP family office, Genesis and Unispace Ventures, will fund organic and inorganic offline expansion across India and Southeast Asia.
MakeO, the parent company of clear aligner brand Toothsi, has raised nearly $9.5 million (Rs 90 crore) in a funding round led by Singularity AMC, the company announced on Tuesday.
The round also saw participation from DSP family office, Genesis and Unispace Ventures, along with other funds and family offices, MakeO said in a statement.
The company plans to build a dental technology platform focused on India and Southeast Asia, according to the statement.
"The capital through this raise will be allocated towards further organic and inorganic offline expansion across both India and Southeast Asia. It will allow us to invest in and strengthen our end-to-end platform across consumer experience, clinical centres, backend technology and manufacturing facilities," said Dr Arpi Mehta, Group CEO and co-founder of MakeO.
The fundraise follows MakeO's acquisition of Singapore-headquartered Zenyum, a deal that expanded the group's presence across Southeast Asia. The combined group operates a network of about 1,100 partner dentists across 10 countries and markets, including India, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Japan.
That footprint gives the combined entity a multi-market base of clinical partners to work with as it scales its dental technology offering in the region.
MakeO's raise was one of three India deals reported in the same digest. Bower School of Entrepreneurship raised nearly $2.8 million (Rs 26.8 crore) in a pre-Series A round to strengthen its programmes, develop a standalone campus and expand its technology platform connecting learners, founders and its wider community, with the funds also supporting growth through existing university partnerships and new institutional collaborations. That round followed Bower's Rs 11.5-crore seed funding, which saw participation from existing investors, new investors from the education sector, a Silicon Valley-based investor and other high-net-worth individuals.
Separately, NuSynth Technologies, an R&D-led process innovation platform focused on complex chemistry, raised about $4 million (Rs 36.5 crore) in a seed funding round co-led by Avaana Capital and Shastra VC. The company uses an AI-enabled engine that learns from experimental data to accelerate research and development, with an initial focus on pharmaceuticals and electronics chemicals, and aims to redesign chemical processes from first principles to improve cost efficiency, yields, safety and sustainability.
The capital through this raise will be allocated towards further organic and inorganic offline expansion across both India and Southeast Asia. It will allow us to invest in and strengthen our end-to-end platform across consumer experience, clinical centres, backend technology and manufacturing facilities.
